Heart-to-Heart Volunteer Program

Watch volunteers discuss how important volunteering is to them.

Do you want to make a difference in someone’s life? Clermont Senior Services invites you to join our heart-to-heart volunteer program. The experience is designed to be enjoyable and beneficial to both the volunteer and the senior.

The Clermont Senior Services Heart-to-Heart Volunteer Program is a vital resource for the agency, with many opportunities for individuals, families, civic groups, and churches to make a difference in the lives of senior citizens. Without the commitment of volunteers, Clermont Senior Services would not be able to fulfill its mission. Volunteering is not just a service; it is self-enrichment and a life event that develops long lasting, meaningful relationships. Volunteers may choose how they wish to serve and are welcome to participate in one or as many volunteer services as desired.

Volunteer Guardian Program

The Volunteer Guardian Program is recruiting, screening and training people to be court appointed, “Guardians of Person.” These Guardians serve individuals who have no family able or wiling to assist them, and whose ability to make decisions is diminished. Volunteer Guardians do not have financial responsibility for the person. Volunteers must be 21, have reliable transportation, provide references, attend an interview, complete a background check, and required training.

Extra Hands/ Community Engagement

An Extra Hands volunteer is willing to occasionally spend a few hours doing one-time projects such as running errands, hanging curtains, organizing closets, sprucing up a lawn or flower bed, washing windows, light painting or staining. Volunteers may choose to work in our office stuffing envelopes, bulk mailings or assisting with special events. Civic, church, school, business and youth groups are invited to participate in projects that include simple tasks, usually a one-time activity, such as yard work, general cleaning, planning a special event for customers at the Adult Day Service Welcome Center or adopting a homebound senior.

Meals on Wheels

Volunteers deliver nutritious meals to older adults throughout Clermont County who have difficulty preparing food as a result of a medical condition. This program also provides a valuable safety check for the program participant because some people are isolated and may be at risk of falls or health problems.

Most volunteers deliver meals once a week in a neighborhood near their home. Sometimes several people work together as a team to adopt a route and each team member agrees to deliver at least once a month. Routes usually take two to three hours to complete and mileage is reimbursed. Making new friends and knowing you are helping seniors in your own community are two benefits received by those who volunteer for our Meals-on-Wheels Program.

I benefit so much from being a MOW volunteer. It’s as if you’re visiting your second family. I feel privileged to deliver meals to seniors. – Bev, MOWs Volunteer

Shopper

Volunteers grocery shop for seniors who can’t shop for themselves. They may run errands, such as picking up prescriptions at a pharmacy or stamps at the post office. Occasionally, some volunteers take out trash, pick up mail, or perform other simple tasks that may be difficult for a frail senior to do. Volunteers call regularly to see if their customer needs anything. The senior pays for all purchases and mileage is reimbursed.

My volunteering to do the shopping takes some of the pressure off the senior. I enjoy helping out and visiting. – Patti, Shopper

Adopt-A-Senior

Fitzgerald’s Pharmacy delivering their gifts

The Adopt-a-Senior Program invites the community to participate in an annual gift giving program. This program was created many years ago to help make Christmas special for Clermont County seniors who have limited resources. The Program demonstrates that many people care about senior citizens and wish to help them have a brighter holiday. Clermont Senior Services makes every attempt to match a donor to a senior in need. Early bird shopper cards are mailed out in September and if you would like to be included on the donor early bird list, please call 513-724-1255.

Download the Adopt a Senior application HERE. Print and return by mail, or submit through email, and we’ll get you matched to a senior for this gift-giving season!

It humbles you, it makes you appreciate your life, your family and the community. -Brian Hess, Volunteer
