Volunteers provide services in the following programs: meals-on-wheels,
telephone reassurance, in home visits, shopping and errands, center activities and center
entertainment. Volunteer groups provide chore services such as home and
yard clean-up, simple repairs, painting, window washing, etc. (see below)
Key Benefits
- Flexible scheduling for volunteer.
- Older adults benefit from a helping hand.
- Orientation is provided if needed.
Volunteer Opportunities
Activities are decided upon by the volunteer and the
senior based on mutual convenience and satisfaction. We want the
experience to be enjoyable and beneficial to both.
We match volunteers and seniors according to interests,
needs and location. Orientation is provided for all volunteer programs.
Volunteer Connections is divided into several subprograms
so that volunteers may choose how they wish to serve. They may participate
in one or more subprograms.
The subprograms are:
Volunteers and
seniors may go on outings together or just visit in the senior's home.
Sometimes they run other errands as well, such as picking
up prescriptions at a pharmacy or an item from a hardware store.
Occasionally, some volunteers take out the trash, pick up mail, or other simple
tasks that may be difficult for a frail, homebound older adult to do.
Mileage is reimbursed.
Volunteers call
weekly to see if their senior needs anything; the senior pays for all purchases.
-
Medical Support
Volunteers provide
transportation to older adults for medical appointments or tests. Mileage
is reimbursed.
Many older adults have limited or no support available to
transport them and only require a ride and a helping hand, which can make a
difference in their health and well-being.
-
Meals On
Wheels
Volunteers deliver
nutritious noontime meals to the homebound older adults of Clermont County.
Sometimes several
people work together to adopt a route and each person or team member delivers
once a month. Routes usually take one to two hours to complete and mileage
is reimbursed.
Besides delivering
meals, volunteers also provide a critical safety check to assure the well-being
of all meal recipients. Some older adults are isolated and alone.
This program can be a life saver for them.
-
Community
Service

Volunteers provide
a variety of services that help older adults in their homes such as yard work,
minor household repairs, moving furniture, painting or general cleaning.
Volunteers sometimes plan a special event or outing for an
activity center or adult day center group.
Volunteers may be individuals, church, civic or corporate
groups, or a school class that wishes to enhance the lives of older adults in
their community.
What do Volunteers get out of it?
Volunteers love this program because it's flexible and it
fits into their schedules. Seniors love it, because it gives them the
support they need, along with a visit from someone who cares.
Volunteers say they enjoy giving something back to their
community. It makes them feel good to know they have helped make a
difference in someone's life.
Many volunteers say they receive much more than they give.
The joy and appreciation on the faces of those they serve enrich their lives.
An elderly lady who received our meals once said about our
volunteers, "They don't just deliver the meals, but take a minute to chat
and see how I am. They are my friends."
You can share that moment and enrich a life. Volunteer!
